Preparations for New years
After work the 31st we packed the car and met up with Ryno and Rachel, more or less ready for camping in the desert. We had bought tent, sleeping bags, chairs with beer-holders (important), arabic outfits, a huge variety of beverages, plastic cutlery etc. - in other words all the equipment a genuine Beduin would require in order to survive in the desert.
Next on the list was the ney years eve dinner. On our way out of Dubai we stopped at a shopping mall to pick up food and the last items left to make this a unforgetable night (like the "Absolute arabian nights 2007" cd.
Arabic bread and hummus, a Beduin's favourite.
Eystein insisted on preparing som red snapper and tiger prawns. Some shocking similarities here...
After the final shopping was done, we got dressed and aimed for the sand dunes.
Driving in the "dishdash" (the arabic uniform) really is a challange, it totally blocks the side view, and I now understand why the locals in Dubai are so bad at driveing.
