Dinner Burj Al Arab

Weather: Sunshine
Temperature: 32 C
Humidity: 58%

The worlds only 7 star hotel

The first you meet when approaching the Burj Al Arab hotel is a stunning collection of Rolls Royces and other filthy expensive cars, and most of the guests that arrive at the hotel enter with pretty fancy rides.

All the guests at the hotel are not that loaded however, and I do not think I have gotten that many strange looks and seen more strange face expressions than when we handed our ride over to the hotel staff in front of the main entrance and 20 hotel guests... I hadn't washed my "turbo-ride" in ages and the car looked like a Coca Cola at a fancy wine tasting - not in its right element.. I was extremely close to burst out in laughter several times as my sight changed from the dirty Mazda and over to the glazing white Rolls Royces.. The fact that my sight manager had written "Vask mæ" on the trunk did not make it any less hilarious..

Well, after the more or less ambarrassing parking session we entered the hotel main doors. It was quite a sight - gold everywhere.

This vest is 100% made out of 24 karat gold. Maybe not the most comfertable outfit - but totally something to show off at the discotec..

There are 6 different restaurants at the hotel, and we had reserved table at the "Bab al Yam" afternoon dinner buffet. This was definitely the best meal I have had so far in Dubai, and the service was excellent (we hadn't expected otherwise). One could choose between lobster, king crab, sushi, maki, sashimi, 10 different main courses and heaps of diferent garniture. The meal was finished off with a huge variety of deliciously decorated small desserts and sweets - unforgetable!

This is a place I will have to go back to with the visitors that are comming to Dubai. Anita, Andreas and Morten: Maybe this the place to celebrate Christmas Eve?

Finally we went outside, delivered the parking receipt to one of the hotel staff and the dust-pile of a car once again had to stop outside the hotel main entrance. It clearly did not feel at home. The driver was tipped well for the inconvenience of driving my dirty car - and we darted away from the hotel as quickly as possible.
